Uzbekistan’s inaugural Bukhara Biennial, Recipes for Broken Hearts (5 Sept–20 Nov 2025), offers a fresh alternative to biennial fatigue by embedding over 70 new, site-specific works across restored historic madrassas, caravanserais and mosques in Bukhara. Curated by Diana Campbell and commissioned by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the event emphasises collaboration between local artisans and international artists, elevates craft, food, architecture and restoration, and frames healing, time, and community as central to art.
